Great Aloha Run Book Fair and Read Alouds

This event allowed Read To Me to promote reading aloud while raising funds to support programs. Through the book fair, Read To Me raised $2,500, while over 60 parents and children listened to read alouds and over 500 visitors to the area received read aloud information. See more photos of the event here.

From Friday, February 12th through Sunday, February 14th, 2010, visitors could stop by the Read To Me area to pick up new and gently used children's books at an amazing price -- and even better, 100 percent of the money spent will be used to support Read To Me programs and presentations.

And besides checking out some great deals on books (and an opportunity to help Read To Me), families could enjoy read alouds on all three days of the event at the Read Aloud Area. Read To Me had local authors Lance Wheeler, who wrote Kula and the Old Ukulele, and Sue Cowing, author of My Dog Has Flies: Poetry for Hawaii's Kids as guest readers along with a number of volunteer readers, and a visit from READ therapy dogs.
